Marie Dietrich Leurer
Marie Dietrich Leurer, PhD, is an Assistant Professor with the College of Nursing (Regina site), University of Saskatchewan. She is a Registered Nurse with a BScN from the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan, an MBA from the Faculty of Administration, University of Regina and a PhD from the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology, College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. Her doctoral research explored perceptions of service providers and parents regarding how to improve outcomes for children born into disadvantaged circumstances and was funded by the Centre for Knowledge Transfer. Other research projects involving RQHR have included (1) Public Health Nursing Support Beyond the Immediate Postpartum Period and (2) Revealing the Voices of Experience: Insights from Registered Nurses. She has published articles in peer reviewed international journals, such as the Journal of Health Organization and Management (2007) and the International Journal of Health Promotion and Education (accepted). Her research results are regularly presented at national conferences. Her key research interests are healthy public policy, population and public health, and the health of vulnerable populations, particularly the early childhood period.
